Competence Network for Congenital Heart Defects at the 43rd Annual Meeting AEPC

During the Association for European Paediatric Cardiology (AEPC)’s 43rd Annual Meeting taking place in Venice, the Competence Network for Congenital Heart Defects will showcase itself with an information stand as well as with scientific lectures. Members of the research network will present the MRI Core Lab’s and Euripides device registry’s recent developments.

The MRI Core Lab analyses MRI imaging files based on the most recent guidelines and according to secured high-quality standards. This service is going to be expanded to the rest of Europe in the near future. The Euripides working group under Professor Jan Janousek from the Leipzig Heart Centre is looking for active scientists in order to support the registry and thereby initiate their own research projects. The Euripides device registry comprises patients with congenital heart defects undertaking ICD- and CRT-therapy. Findings from such studies should allow us to answer the many important questions arising from ICD- and CRT-therapy, and thereby allow for optimal implantation techniques for children and adults suffering from congenital heart defects.

The new communication platform corience will be introduced during the AEPC‘s Annual Meeting. The National Registry for Congenital Heart Defects coordinates this project, which is currently still under construction and will be launched in September 2008. The European Union Seventh Framework Programme funds the project.

We are looking forward to meeting you!
