Who Reviews Your Research Proposal?

The Review Board of the Research Network

Research conducted at the Competence Network for Congenital Heart Defects puts the patient’s wellbeing first. The Review Board includes experts from the fields of pediatric cardiology, cardiology, human genetics, basic research, ethics and medical law. They review any and all project proposals using donated data and samples from the National Register for Congenital Heart Defects, as well as data from the Study Database and the Image-Study Database of the Competence Network for Congenital Heart Defects.

The Review Board cooperates with the Data Access Committee, which consists of the Competence Network’s Steering Committee and the National Register’s Management Board. It advises the Committee regarding research proposals for basic research projects that are based on samples from the biorepository of the National Register for Congenital Heart Defects, as well as for clinical and register-based studies including data from the National Register. The board members review the research proposals considering criteria of basic research and healthcare, as well as in terms of ethics and medical law. Besides representatives from different fields, the board also includes representatives of patient and parent initiatives.
